It’s the Friday Four!
Its time for the BIG GAME! Whenever I think about about this time of year – I think Chili! This is one of my favorites – hardy and easy and a BIG crowd pleaser! The National Syndicated column – the 7 Day Meal Planner’s Susan Nicholson thought so too, its today’s recipe!
Although I use it all year round, winter is my favorite time to plug in the slow cooker and make warm rich foods that won’t slow me down!
Its most definitely soup time! And there’s nothing like a fabulous easy recipe filled with seafood, herbs and spices to make us all want to get in the kitchen and cook.
It so much fun to teach risotto to home cooks. Although it looks like an impressive “restaurant” dish, it’s easy and fast to cook at home. The secret to making good risotto is in the pan. Instead of a tall-sided saucepot, opt for a wide bottomed sauté pan. Lots more surface area in the pan means lots more room for the rice to absorb the stock, making the finished dish creamy and decadent – without adding cream!
If you open the door of my fridge right now, you’d see containers of soup lined up and ready to be eaten. This is the soup time of the year, and this is an easy stew to make in your slow cooker this weekend – or any day!
Here in the South, we always eat black eyed peas, greens and cornbread for New Years. It brings us luck! Here’s a fun twist on the traditional, including all three in a yummy bite size burger.
Quite simply, these cookies rock. Easy to make and OH! so good, you can whip up a double batch and if you have any left…store them in the freezer. A little better-for-you by using date puree instead of lots of butter and sugar!
This week has been all about breakfast ideas for the holidays. From Atlanta & CO on Monday, to today’s doughnut idea, here’s a way to make sure your family and friends are eating deliciously AND a little better for the holidays!
Have you heard of the Feast of Seven Fishes? Its an Italian-American tradition that’s typically celebrated on Christmas Eve. I love celebrating with family and friends with this fun pasta!
On Black Friday, and no matter whether you are hitting the streets or just your computer keyboard, this salad is a fresh and bright tasting change from a heavy traditional Turkey Day dinner. Don’t just serve it up as a salad – it makes a great wrap, too!

No need for takeout this weekend! Peanut sauce with all the flavor – that’s a little better for us. Plus a roasted shrimp recipe that rocks.
This recipe has elicited lots of email throughout the years and I understand why. Its creamy, briny, tangy and crunchy all in one easy-to-make dip. It’s an all-star in the healthy kitchen, super for a light dinner without turning on the oven or stove. Pita chips are the perfect dipper – but packaged chips are full of salt and fat, plus preservatives and other ingredients. Once you find out how easy it is to make your own, you’ll never buy another bag again.
