Drink Wine Get Organized 🍷🗂! What NOT to do when cooking or organizing 🤔

Posted by Nancy Waldeck on Friday, April 13, 2018

We had a blast “Drinking Wine and Getting Organized” yesterday – as we celebrated Friday the 13th!

Carrie shared some fun DON’Ts in for organizing – and I gave some “DON’Ts” in the kitchen. (For a complete list of 13 Don’ts in the Kitchen, scroll to the bottom of the post.)

We also enjoyed an easy appetizer that I whipped up to illustrate some of my “DON’Ts”!

Mushroom Bruschetta

  • 8 OZ Mushrooms, Washed and Sliced
  • 1 TB Olive Oil
  • Sea Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 4 OZ Goat Cheese
  • 6 Slices Whole Wheat Bread or Baguette
  • Coarse Sea Salt
  • Chopped Dill, or your favorite seasonal herb

Get the oil hot in a large sauté pan. Add the mushrooms to the pan, (in two batches), with a healthy sprinkle of salt and pepper.  Don’t crowd the pan! When done, serve on the bread that has been topped with goat cheese. Garnish with sea salt and herbs. OR just bring the mushrooms to the table and let everyone enjoy!

Pinot Noir is the PERFECT PARTNER for the rich “umami” taste of the mushrooms. The grape hails from the Burgundy region in France, but is made beautifully in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. You can see us laughing about “berry” delicious in the video – but that’s a perfect description of this yummy wine. Berry and cherry flavors abound, along with a touch of earthiness. Its a fruit forward wine, not big and jammy like some of the popular California pinots. That makes it a wonderful partner for the food! I bought this one at a local wine store for around $20.
